Compulsory Basic Training...
A Compulsory Basic Training course must be taken by anyone
who wishes to ride a motorcycle, scooter or moped on public roads.
Courses are carried out by Approved Training Bodies (ATBs).
The course generally takes a day to complete and covers five main elements
including on-site and road training and riding.
Once you have completed all five elements successfully you will be issued
with a Certificate of Completion of Training (DL196). This serves to validate
the relevant entitlements on your driving licence.
Your DL196 will be valid for 2 years after which if you have not passed both
theory and practical elements of the standard test CBT will have to be retaken.
If your CBT certificate is dated before 1st February
2001 it will be valid for 3 years, after which time the same rules as above
will apply.
The CBT course can be taken
on either a manual or automatic machine.
Motoretta can include this training as part of a
package when you purchase your scooter. If you wish we can deliver your new
scooter to the centre, or you can take your CBT on one of the centre~Rs machines.
